Item Description
Offered here is the complete, cover-to-cover original art for Little Golden Book No. 135, Underdog And The Disappearing Ice Cream, published by Golden Press/Western Publishing Company, Inc. ©1975 TTV/Leonardo Television Prods., Inc. Art for this book was credited to Jason Studios, who produced art for other Little Golden Books. 8.25x9.75" Bainbridge Board features mixed media original art for front cover, showing Underdog arriving as Sweet Polly Purebread points to empty ice cream truck and startled ice cream man. Bottom left margin has inked "#59082 G. Press" handwritten notation. Staple holes along margins, but art remains clean and Exc. Interior page art is contained in groups of four on six 16x19.75" cardboard sheets for printer purposes (each having printer registration marks), for total of 24 original art images. This includes title page and 23 interior pages. Each page measures approx. 6-5/8x8.75" w/attached acetate cover w/printed text stats attached. Art includes four double-page spreads (two of which do not have acetate covers as those pages did not feature text as printed). Undedog appears on 16 pages (17 counting title page) while Polly appears on nine. One page featuring the Moonmen (the culprits repsonible for the "Disappearing Ice Cream"). Pages are positioned on printer board (which have staples holes along top/bottom margins) out of order, but all are present and Exc. All come from the Whitman Archives, including file copy of the book, which has inked notes on front cover and each page as checked off. Full Little Golden Book art rarely comes up for sale, let along featuring a popular character like Underdog. An amazing addition to any Underdog fan's collection.
