Item Description
20x28" original heavy illustration board contains pen and ink original art illustration for a two-page spread in Famous Fantasic Mysteries Vol. 4, #6, published in Oct. 1942. Illustration is by Frank R. Paul (1884-1963), a noted pulp illustrator who worked extensively in the science fiction field. Paul was influential in defining the look of both cover art and interior illustrations in the nascent science fiction pulps of the 1920s. He was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2009. Illustration for George Allen England-penned "The Elixir Of Hate" storyline features man in suit trying to catch a falling bottle in a lab at left page while image at right shows bearded man falling into glass panel while bottles and beakers fly into the air. Void areas at top and bottom for text for the pulp story. Lt. aging/wear to board. Board is double matted at 23.75x31.5" and taped to back of board. Pen and ink art is clean and ready to frame. Overall art is Exc.
