Sleeve hand-numbered in red felt tip marker "973" of 1,000 on verso. Side A runout groove says "SP-23-A" w/"k disc" stamp and "Why Don't You Trade Those Guitars For Shovels? 1-31540." Side B has "SP-23-B", "k disc" stamp and "L-31540X." One of only 1,200 (including 200 red slash promo copies) produced for release in Nov. of 1988. The first Sub Pop singles club issue was also the first Nirvana release ushering in the band that would soon go on to dominate the world. But in 1988 they were one of the many burgeoning groups from the area surrounding Seattle, WA creating a new sound to counter the hair metal and pop rock then dominating the charts. The scrappy trio had only recently solidified Chad Channing on drums and this release was so early in their career that they had played less than 25 live shows exclusively in Washington State having only changed there name to Nirvana in March. Sleeve is super clean w/trivial surface marks in reflected light at top left and the faint ghosting of a price sticker once affixed at top right in the blurry bkg. of the photo. Exc. Each side of record has a tiny tick that is barely perceptible when played. Love Buzz side tick can be seen in reflected light at 11 o’clock, appears under magnification to be a tiny dot of plastic that likely adhered during the pressing. VG++.
