Item Description
This beautifully constructed piece is 2.25" across and .5" thick. Both and front and back panels are in lustrous rainbow hued mother of pearl. The front has applied choice color scene of Columbus and his men landing on the shore with ship at left and at right four Native Americans bowing and paying homage accented by palm tree in bkg. Scene is captioned "World's Columbian Exposition Chicago 1893." Top of the piece has linked chain and clasp to open it revealing intense red fabric formed accordion style to make three individual compartments. NM and an outstanding rare souvenir of the exposition. With the item comes plain gray cardboard box with water mark on lid but still totally intact lined with ancient cotton and very likely the original container at 2-3/8x3.25x.75" deep.
