These items are c. 1920 and earlier. Four of the buttons are 1.25" and the second and third have backpapers by Bastian. The fifth button is 7/8". The celluloid covered blotter is 3x7.75" with one used blotter sheet attached to the celluloid cover. The first button pictures "Frank Zotti" along with his business address. No backpaper but this was obviously issued prior to the July 18, 1908 New York Times article headlined "Frank Zotti, Well-Known Italian (banker), In The Tombs In Default Of $25,000 Bail. Loss May Reach $400,000/Charged With Misappropriating Funds Given Him To Forward To Europe - Denies Guilt." Button has light surface wear including pair of near microscopic pinpoint holes by his eye and one on his lip. The piece still displays Exc. We don't know if he was convicted or not. Next depicts "Morris Engle" with Greenwich Street address. In 1910, roughly the time of this button, he was Secretary of the Private Bankers Association. NM displaying Mint. Next shows head of "A. Angelinoff Co., Inc." with Liberty Street address. He was also a private banker. Next promotes "Dollings Investment Securities." One of the very few buttons to specify this business. Next is button naming "Frank Sakser" with Cortlandt Street address. He was a journalist, publisher, migration agent and banker. His publication for Slovenians was titled "Glos Naroda." Last is ink blotter advertising "National Discount Company" on Fifth Avenue self-described as "Prime Acceptances, Commercial Paper, Accounts Receivable/Dealt In." Minor wear on the celluloid but still extremely clean. A group of rare and early banking/investment collectibles.
