Alex Schomburg did some outstaying cover art for Timely during the Golden Age. His work was crowded, yet powerful and direct. For the cover of this anthology, he puts five of Timely’s greatest heroes into direct battle with the Nazis. There is no subtlety here. Sub-Mariner, Captain American and the Human torch are joined by Bucky and Toro as they take on an attacking Nazi fleet. Schomburg is not subtle when it comes to swastika imagery. The book also contains back-up stories featuring the Whizzer and Destroyer. Artists who contribute to this issue include Jimmy Thompson, Bob Oskner, George Klein, Harry Sahle and Carl Pfeufer. The pages are off-white to white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 6.0 (FN).
