Item numbers 953 through 2651 in auction 184
Item Description
His fame is so strong that years after he has played a professional game, the name of Babe Ruth can still sell a comic. This title is one of the most successful and interesting sports anthologies in comic book history. An early success for Harvey, the book is notable for the range of sports that it does cover. You would think that a book named after the man many consider the best baseball hitter ever would feature a big cover with his smiling mug. Instead, they go with a full page of a sport that was no near as popular as baseball at the time, basketball. Whoever was editing this book for Harvey seems to have the history of all sports at the front of their consciousness. Bob Powell contributes art. The book does contain an adaptation of Babe’s life story. The pages are cream to off-white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 9.6 (NM+). According to the CGC Census, this is the highest-graded copy they have seen. It is also recognized as a Harvey Publishing File Copy.
