Item Description
Many people remember that Blackhawk was an outstanding character, but this cover clearly reminds the reader that the Blackhawks are a very viable team. They appear to be a group of freelance fighter pilots, but there is never any question as to where their allegiance lies. Created by the immortal Will Eisner, their mythology was greatly expanded by Chuck Cuidera and artist Bob Powell. However the artist most associated with the early work on the Blackhawks was Reed Crandall. The team had first appeared in 1941 in the first issue of Military Comics. This unrestored issue is the first issue of their own title as it was formerly known as Uncle Sam Quarterly. The book was published by Quality Publishing and the numbering of this title continued when DC took the characters over with issue #108. The pages are cream to off-white. The book is CGC-certified 8.0 (VF) and is also recognized as belonging to the Rockford Pedigree.
