Auction #184 - Part II
Item numbers 953 through 2651 in auction 184
Item Description
Starting with the Flash in 1956, DC had tremendous success updating their Golden Age heroes for the modern age. Sometimes, the update involved as little as a costume change and a new identity. Other times, like the Atom, the entire concept was re-imagined. New powers were created and an entire new supporting crew grew around the new Atom. Other than the name, virtually nothing of the Golden Age Atom was present in this new incarnation. This new incarnation is attributed to the pen of Gardner Fox and the pencils of the fantastic Gil Kane. Murphy Anderson’s inks contributed a great deal to the character’s success. This is the Atom’s second appearance in Showcase. He would eventually get his own title. He is still active today. He can also be occasionally seen on the Cartoon Network’s Justice League TV Show. The pages are off-white to white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 8.0 (VF).
