Item Description
In 1958 it sometimes took six months for accurate sales figures to float into the offices of DC Comics. They knew that the Flash’s first appearance had gone well in Showcase #4, but it wouldn’t hurt to let him have a couple of more try-outs in Showcase. This is his third appearance in Showcase. After the fourth, DC would move him into his own title (Actually, they picked up the numbering on that book with where the Golden Age Flash’s title had been canceled, but that is another story). This issue also contains the first appearance of a villain that would go on to menace the Flash for the rest of his career, Mr. Element. The art of Carmine Infantino highlights this issue. His artwork is one of the reasons for the Flash’s success. It was perfect for the time. It still looks great today. The pages are off-white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 7.5 (VF-).
