Item Description
First is 1.25" medallion with raised wreath surrounding enamel segments encompassing a bicycle wheel flanked by wings. Small loop at top. Reverse stamped "Sterling." This was a state-of-the-art bicycle track on 225th Street in the Bronx. We're not quite sure when it opened but it was destroyed by fire August 4, 1930. While it existed it was one of the largest in the world and was a popular destination for professional cyclists. Trivial tarnish. NM. Next is a beautifully constructed quite heavy 1-1/8" badge designed as a spoked automobile wheel. Enamel lettering reads "The Automobile Club Of America." The reverse is stamped with "Sterling" and name of maker "Theodore B. Starr, N.Y." Probably from the 1920s if not even earlier. A quality piece with horizontal bar pin. NM displaying Mint. First we've seen of either.
