Auction #212 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 988 in auction 212
Item Description
1.75" with moderately aged back paper from Baltimore Badge. Back collet has trivial hairline dent and front has barely seen pinpoint indent near the photo's center plus a narrow band of stain towards the outer edge at 1 o'clock to 7 o'clock. Pictured in front of a brick building are 16 young men with shoulder pads visible on ten of them. While their first season was in 1879, this button from 1903 was made only 7 years after the invention of the button and may possibly be the earliest Navy team photo on a button. It is the one and only example we have ever seen. Rare.
