Item Description
11x14" sheet of spiral-bound art paper has pen and ink specialty original art by legendary "X-Men" artist Dave Cockrum (1943-2006), known for his co-creation of New X-Men characters Storm, Nightcrawler and Colossus. Art depicts X-Men members Jean Grey as The Phoenix holding leash attached to spiked collar around Wolverine's neck. A bowl marked "Spot" appears at Wolverine's feet. Art was obtained in-person at the "Women In Comics" Convention in Philadelphia, PA Nov. 18, 1978. Cockrum has inscribed "Best - Dave Cockrum" at lower left. Sheet has some lt. handling wear w/some scattered faint bleed-through from art that was in contact w/this sheet. This does not detract greatly and aside from removal from spiral binding, art is still VF overall. Great piece of specialty art from one of the X-Men's most important artists just a few years after his iconic run began.
