Item Description
3.25x5.25" vintage silver gelatin real photo postcard depicting former MLB player Billy Sunday along w/his family seated on steps. Identification at bottom of postcard reads "Billy Sunday and Family at Home, Mount Hood, Winona Lake, Ind.". Photographer's credit at lower right reads "Copr., Inbody." Billy Sunday played eight seasons of professional baseball as an outfielder for Chicago, Pittsburgh & Philadelphia from 1883-90. However, Billy is best remembered for being a prominent Evangelist at the turn of the Century, traveling the country and speaking in front of countless Americans. Divided postcard back includes a handwritten note on left w/postal cancellation date of March 5, 1912 in Bellaire, OH. Minor creasing visible at both lower corners on front and lt. even corner wear along w/significant toning on back. Fine. Richard Merkin Collection.
