Item Description
Two artboards assembled for 6.75x23" overall size has Al Capp's pencil and ink original art for Nov. 5, 1938 daily strip. Strip features four panels, showing night scene w/Hannibal Hoops beseeching Daisy Mae to marry him, plotting a "two-for-one" marriage scheme, tricking Abner. Both Hannibal and Daisy Mae appear in each panel. Capp has signed third panel above United Features copyright strip. Penciled "A Gentleman Of The Old School" title at top margin. Artboard margins have some aging and scattered wear and third panel has two aged strips of replacement text, but o/w rest of art remains clean and VF/Exc. overall. Artboard is attached to mat w/mounting tape along top edge and is ready for framing. As Li'l Abner began in 1934, this is a wonderful example of Capp’s original art from the popular comic strip's early years.
