Item Description
6.25x19-5/8" artboard has Al Capp's pencil and ink original art w/screentone accents (and some white correctional fluid) for Feb. 2, 1971 daily strip. Strip features three panels, showing Abner leaving home to prove he loves Daisy Mae for who she is, not her money. Second panel is dominated by Moonbeam McSwine (who cuts her toenails w/shears) as Abner is seen in the distance. Third panel shows Abner taking in boxing match. Abner appears in every panel while both Daisy Mae and Moonbeam appear in one panel each. Capp has signed third panel. Second panel has New York News Inc. copyright strip. Small "Li'l Abner" title strip pasted at upper left (obscured by mat). Screentone accents have evenly aged, but o/w rest of art remains clean and Exc. Artboard is attached to mat w/mounting tape along top edge and is ready for framing.
