Item Description
3.5x5.5. Bold and distinct portrait photos of 23 team members. All players are identified by last name by their head shots. Manager Hal Chase has full figure illustrated body to go along w/his photo. The 1911 Highlanders finished in sixth place in the American League w/a regular season record of 76-76-1 under star player/manager Chase. The offense that season was led my AL MVP candidate, Birdie Cree, who finished with a .348 batting average to go along w/88 RBI’s and 90 runs scored along w/48 stolen bases for good measure. The mound corps was led by 22 game winner, Russ Ford. Postcard credit at bottom of image reads “Sporty Postal Card Co., Newark, NJ”. Back has postmark of August 9, 1911. Back also has handwritten message which in part accounts for the technical grade of 1 Poor, but front retains a glossy appearance w/wonderful design.
