Item Description
2-1/8x3-1/8". The 1946-47 Propagandas Montiel series consists of 180 cards depicting athletes, including baseball players and boxers. Card fronts feature bw photos while backs have bios along w/advertising for Cuban stores. An album was issued in conjunction w/this card set, thus accounting for many examples found in lesser condition due to paper loss from album removal.
Alfonso Ramón López (1908 – 2005) was a Spanish-American professional baseball catcher and manager, primarily for Brooklyn, Pittsburgh and Boston (NL). As a player, López was a two-time All-Star known for his defensive skills, leadership, and durability, as he established a major league record for career games played at catcher (1,918) that stood for decades. As a manager, Lopez divided his time between Cleveland and Chicago (AL). He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977.
