15.25x20" paper sign promotes the tin litho "Comic Rings" offered as Post cereal box premiums 1948-1949 (issued in two waves; 12 in first wave, 24 in second). ©1948 F.A.S. This sign also promotes Post Raisin Bran cereal w/"12 Different Comic Rings In The Series!" text and illustrations of Dick Tracy, Lillums and Herby rings. Little Orphan Annie, Dick Tracy and Herby rings are pictured on art image of box. Sign shows obvious wear w/large corner creases, margins tears/chips, some scattered splits along original fold lines and .5x5/8" hole just below center. Tape repair on back to 5.5" tear at lower left. VG. Scarce. Comes w/35 of 36 rings in the set (missing only Perry Winkle), each 2-3/16" long. Key characters in set include - The Phantom, Flash Gordon, Popeye, Olive Oyl, Dick Tracy, Felix the Cat, Blondie and Dagwood and Little Orphan Annie. Others include - Smilin' Jack, Swee'Pea, Fritz and Hans (Katzenjammer Kids), Jiggs, Henry, Tillie The Toiler, Maggie, Wimpy, Inspector, Casper, Toots, Smokey Stover, Little King, Alexander, Der Captain, Mamma Katzenjammer, Lillums, Snuffy Smith, Winnie Winkle, Smitty, Herby, Harold Teen, Andy Gump, Skeezix and Mac. All but two remain sealed within their original glassine envelopes (two loose come w/envelopes). While envelopes show some scattered aging, ring remain unused and Exc. Rare as a near set and w/packaging.
