Item Description
4-5/8x9.75" wide tin litho toy produced in Germany for import to England as noted by marking on underside. Further text on underside reads "By Exclusive Arrangement With The Ideal Films Ltd." c.1930s. "Mickey The Musical Mouse" name appears at bottom center of toy, along w/registration number at left and "All Rights Reserved" text at right. Main body of toy measures 3-1/8x9.75" and features the bodies of Minnie Mouse pushing a stroller (in which a baby Mickey Mouse is seen playing a horn), Mickey Mouse standing w/hands on hips and another Mickey Mouse as an organ grinder, the organ having his face on it. Metal hand-crank box attached to back of toy, and when turned, moves painted tin arm w/three separate die-cut tin litho heads attached. These each depict different Mickey/Minnie Mouse faces. Organ grinder Mickey's head appears as if singing. When cranked, toy produces musical notes and heads move back and forth. All works perfectly. Three different versions of this toy were produced, this version w/Minnie is considered the best. Mickey at right has had tin litho tab expertly replaced by the professionals at Tin Toy Works and were painted/finished to match general condition of toy. Toy has had some color touch-ups to front (mostly at top yellow corners) and edges show scattered wear w/thin streaks of bare metal showing. Die-cut heads have some faint bends to ears, not offensive. Tin litho surfaces have some scattered spiderwebbing and tiny spots of oxidation, but all appears to have stabilized. VG overall. Among the best, rarest and most sought after of all German-made Mickey Mouse tin toys. Few examples of this rare toy are known, this being just the second example we've offered in our 58 years.
