Item Description
6.5" tall die-cut tin litho w/spring plunger mechanism on back depicts Mickey Mouse holding pair of drumsticks and has jointed arms w/separate orange drum w/green rims w/"Nifty" company logo and "Jazz Drummer" text (also produced w/plain green drumheads) attached to pants w/his name on the front of drum. This is the more diesriable variation. Toy No. 173 distributed by Geo. Borgfeldt, 1931. Complete w/separate tin tail used to prop toy up; this has been attached w/epoxy to back of toy. Toy works well and when mechanism is activated, the separate drumhead rapidly moves up and down as a drumming noise is produced and in turn causes Mickey's arms to move as if he is drumming. Scattered paint marks w/some bare metal showing on rim of drum from use. Some scattered lt. paint nicks/scratches to front of Mickey figure, but ow/ toy remains totally bright and glossy. Fine. Philip Samuels Collection.
