Lajoie compiled some incredible statistics during his 21 year MLB career w/Cleveland & Philadelphia (1896-16). He is credited w/the highest single season batting average in modern MLB history, registering an astounding .426 mark in 1901, the same season that he won the American League’s first Triple Crown. Lajoie would finish his career w/a batting average of .338 along w/1,504 runs scored, 1,599 RBI’s and 380 stolen bases, all incredible numbers for the dead ball-era that he played in. Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937.
