It established the pattern for most of the tobacco and candy card sets that followed over the next two decades. Cards feature bw player photos w/the name, team and position in the bottom border. Most are found w/either black back printing reading “One Of A  Hundred And Fifty Prominent Baseball Players” (this example) or blank backed. Type 1 consists of 147 known different players plus 11 additional variations. Type 2 cards can be differentiated by the thickness of the card as compared to Type 1’s. Cross began his professional baseball career in 1892 w/the Brooklyn (NL) club. Cross would spend the majority of his playing days in Philadelphia, including four seasons w/the Phillies and six seasons w/the Athletics. He finished his career w/a .234 batting average to go along w/719 runs scored, 621 RBI’s and 328 stolen bases.
