Item Description
From same set as the previous three lots. Eddie Collins is widely regarded as the best American League second baseman of all-time, beginning his MLB career in 1906 w/the Philadelphia Athletics and playing only a handful of games during his first two seasons. Beginning in 1908, Eddie would take over the second base role for Philadelphia and remain there for the next seven seasons before moving on to the Chicago White Sox in 1915. Collins would compile a .333 career batting average to go along w/1,821 runs scored, 3,315 base hits and 741 stolen bases, all near the top of all-time MLB rankings. Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939. At time of cataloging, PSA pop report indicates that this is one of only six examples graded at this level w/only six others ever graded higher.
