Item Description
9-1/8x12" display board has 5-5/8x5-5/8" thin artboard affixed w/clear plastic corner mounts. Artboard features pen and ink original art w/image within 3" dia. circle w/hand-lettered squadron name at bottom. Art depicts the insignia of the 29th Bombardment Squadron, a boxing hare riding a falling bomb. Activated in Puerto Rico in April 1941, the squadron flew anti-submarine patrols in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific Ocean in defense of the Panama Canal during World War II. It was inactivated in Panama in Nov. 1946. Art has handwritten "Red, Yellow And Black" color notation at upper right and upper left has pasted colored stat of how the finished button would look. Bottom margin has penciled text noting 15/16" dia. final size. Art remains clean and Exc. Comes w/example of the pin. Historic and one-of-a-kind piece for the Pep Pin and Militaria collector.
