Item Description
9-1/8x12" display board has 5.75x5.75" thin artboard affixed w/clear plastic corner mounts. Artboard features pen and ink original art w/image within 3" dia. circle w/hand-lettered squadron name at bottom. Art depicts the insignia of the 402nd Bombardment Squadron, three warplanes soaring upward over waves. Activated in China in early 1943, the squadron was programmed for North American B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, however no aircraft or squadrons were assigned and its headquarters was apparently never fully staffed. The unit was disbanded a few months later. Art has handwritten "Blue And Yellow" color notation at upper right and upper left has pasted colored stat of how the finished button would look. Art remains clean and Exc. Comes w/example of the pin. Historic and one-of-a-kind piece for the Pep Pin and Militaria collector. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold.
